His new character is “ANlME”,(small L, instead of an Capital i)) and should now be a member of ZE7A Unit, until/unless DBG un-ban his ShockyNC character / account.
After I watched the 30 minute RAW footage, I thought this would be a great resource for anyone who wants to improve their infantry play, so I threw Shocky some questions.
Links to Shocky’s stats – ShockyNC is the banned one, ANlME the 30 minute Raw footage, and Shockwave98 his Briggs character – SHOCKYNC / SHOCKWAVE98 / ANlME
BlSHOP341B: What FOV are you using?
Bish: I can see that your vertical FOV is wider – and I get that I can see more on my screen – so, easier to spot enemies to my left & right – is there any other reason you like it set higher?
Shocky>>> Honestly i just really enjoyed how much “quicker” i felt while running around at first. If there is any advantage i would like to point out it would be that due to the fisheye effect of that high FOV objects at the sides of your vision feel “zoomed” in and enlarged which made me spot threats just barely at the edge of my screen at times.
I see your Headshot Percentage in the Raw footage was around 50% over a 30 minute session. Does a higher FOV setting make it harder to get headshots? Are the heads ‘smaller’?
Shocky>>> Logically it makes sense that i should be harder to hit heads if the heads are smaller, but somehow it doesn’t seem to affect me. A year or two ago i’ve seen Top-Tier players on Briggs intentionally playing on smaller FOV’s just to have bigger heads – which i’ve tried – but it only gave me a terrible headache 😛
Bish: Okay – a couple of questions here that new players might miss – I might even forget them myself sometimes…..😉 Ehhhhh 😉
You keep sweeping corners with your crosshairs without being Aimed Down Sights – Can you explain why you do this & what happens to the crosshairs if there is e.g an infiltrator lurking in the corner?
Shocky>>> It’s easier to “scan” an area for Movement when you can fully see it, which isn’t as easy, (Due to the smaller field of vision) while Aiming Down.
I try to approach the new Corners and Rooms with the Mindset of “Having the drop” onto people if they aren’t looking my way. (Aren’t aware of me) – if i walk into a room with someone already aiming down sights and shooting at me, while i was still scanning for them, it means retreat on my side – beacuse the odds aren’t in my Favour or Even 🙂
(Bish– for newer players – and enemies will turn your crosshairs red, so easier to sight them, even at distance – also very useful to fire from hip when smoke is around you as you know it’s an enemy if crosshairs are red)
Bish: The 2 enemies on the corner of the triple at around 28m17s in the video – how did you pick up their location? Minimap? In-game sounds? The Hit-Marker on your screen around 27m52s maybe?
Shocky>>>That was the Minimap & Audio (seeing on the Minimap that they must be Distracted at friendly troops that took a different pathway to me and thus they should be damaged&distracted which is in my Favour if i want to flank someone.
Bish: The enemy crouched on the corner of the Tower at 24m56s in the video – I didn’t see the bugger until you started shooting – did you hear him, or see him first?
Shocky>>>I’m pretty certain i only saw him due to his dark camo on the white background, i always scan areas (or just the visual lines) from where an Enemy might appear from as i kept running next to the Crystals they revealed more and more of that side of the Building that might have an Emeny behind them, thus i keep my eye there, (It’s like a rising curtian, really.)
Bish: And then the 2 outside the Tower after that – and also your accuracy in general with a pretty ‘bare’ Gauss SAW – nice headshots –
How do you play it when you’re firing on an enemy with the SAW – trust your accuracy and the SAW, or strafe? Go on, tell me it’s situational…and depends…😉
Shocky>>>it’s situational…and depends… c:
I try to strafe but in many cases you can also just try to play it quick and stand still and try to hit more shots than your opponent.
(But generally, if they are shooting at me i will Strafe, they arent looking at me i will try to get them quick)
Most of it comes from knowing your enemy and knowing what you can afford to do, if you see a Medic running into cover with his Tool out you can just stand still and fire a short Triple Burst to their head.
On the other side : If there’s one of “These Guys” that sit on top of the Leaderboard with 20 Kills more than anyone else with Black Camo and an Betelgeuse you don’t want to try and have a fair 1v1. Take a different route and try to shoot them off Guard with their Medkit out 🙂
Bish: how many days has it been since you got banned Shock?
Shocky>>> It’s been 38 Days and they are convinced i am Cheating 😞
Bish: have you had any response from anyone at DBG ?
Shocky >>> No not really, they Support ticket website said that i had a Response but i coudn’t see one, so i waited a couple days and the System deleted my Ticket with the reasoning that i must be okay with their verdict if i haven’t responded to their response which i coudn’t see . (?)
Bish: Anything else you’d like to add for players looking to improve at Infantry Play? If I haven’t asked it, even if it seems obvious, it might help new Members
Shocky>>> Phew, i mean there’s so much to it 🙂 I Think i explained alot of my Mindset while playing (which isn’t the best, still.) i’d be up for 1on1 conversations on how to become better at Infantry play 🙂
Bish: Thanks for taking the time to get this out there Shocky, I’ll catch you soon, and Zeta’s feel free to leave your comments in the Forums if you have any other questions, or request some 1on1 time with Shocky before, during, or after Ops. You’ll learn a lot just from following him around 😉
